Measure Your Typing Speed in 60 Seconds

Ever wondered how fast you can type? Take our 60-second challenge and find out your typing speed in Words Per Minute (WPM) and Characters Per Minute (CPM). You'll be typing in a blue field, and as soon as you start, the clock starts ticking!

How to Start?

  1. Find Blue Field: Where sample text is.
  2. Start Typing: Timer begins automatically.
  3. Watch Timer: You have 60 seconds.

How Is Typing Speed Calculated?

Your typing speed is determined by how many words and characters you can type correctly within a given time frame. For our test, that's 60 seconds. We measure both your speed and accuracy, giving you a WPM score and an accuracy percentage.

Ideal Typing Speeds by Age Group

  • Elementary School (Grades 3–5): Aim for 8–15 WPM
  • Middle School (Grades 6–8): Aim for 12–25 WPM
  • High School (Grades 9–12): Aim for 20–35 WPM
  • College/Adult: Aim for a minimum of 50 WPM

Why No Difficult Words?

We believe in fair play. Our test uses commonly used words to ensure that you're being tested on your typing speed, not your vocabulary or reading skills. This makes our typing test a great tool for everyone, including kids.

What Is CPM?

CPM (Characters Per Minute): This measures the raw number of characters you type in a minute, including mistakes.

What Is WPM?

WPM (Words Per Minute): This is your corrected CPM, divided by 5. It's the global standard for measuring typing speed.

How Can I Improve My Typing Speed?

Improvement comes with practice, but here are some additional tips:

  1. Learn touch typing to keep your eyes on the screen, not the keys.
  2. Invest in a high-quality keyboard for better tactile feedback.
  3. Make ergonomic adjustments to your workspace to type more comfortably.
